Ranges Quilt - Essex Pillow Pair

Hi friends,

Today I am sharing a project that is a part of my Ranges Quilt pattern - Essex Pillow Pair. The Ranges quilt is a modern mountain inspired quilt pattern that now includes two size templates, allowing you to make not only throw - bed sizes, baby size and even a pillow pair!

Ranges Quilt - Essex Pillow Pair by Modern Handcraft

The pillow pair instructions give you the Ranges scene across the two pillows when they are side by side. It also looks great as a single pillow or split up.

My favorite part of the pillow pairs pattern is that it only takes 5 fat quarters to make the fronts of the pillow pair. Super easy to whip up with just a bit of fabric for the front of the pillows!

Fabric Information:

The Modern Handcraft Palette Picks bundle that I released last year for Robert Kaufman fabrics has a fun and colorful mix of Kona solids and Essex linen fabrics. I pulled 5 of the bright solid Essex linens out for this particular pillow pair.

Essex linens:

Essex Yarn Dyed Pickle
Essex Yard Dyed Curry
Essex Hot Pink
Essex Tomato
Essex Mango

For the backing I did a simple envelope closure with a coordinating Kona solid.

Quilting:

For quilting I kept it super simple and did a straight line spaced at .5". I used the edge of my walking foot as my guide. For the thread color I matched the yellow curry essex and love how subtle the shade worked with all of the other colors on the pillow set!

Here is a shot of the Ranges projects I was working on at the same time, all using fabrics from my palette picks bundle. Two pillow pairs sets and one baby size Ranges quilt.
