Hi friends,
Today I am happy to share a new Hexie Pillow creation using a new line by Ruby Star Society called Reverie. This fabric line by Melody Miller has florals and a beautiful range of colors - making it a perfect match for a Hexie Pillow!
This was created using a mini charm pack - a set of 42 - 2.5" squares of fabric - (you can find it here) that contains the entire fabric line. I created the Hexie Pillow pattern to give you the full Modern Hexies technique and provide you with a way of using a mini charm pack!
I decided to make my layout flow with the colors in the line instead of an all over random placement. There are 33 fabrics in this particular line so there are a few spots that have double the same fabric.
Materials needed for this project:
- Hexie Pillow
- Reverie Mini Charm pack
- 5/8 yard of fabric for background of pillow front - or piece cut 19" x 19" square, or 1 yard total if using the same fabric for envelope backing following the pattern instructions.
- 5/8 yard of fabric for pillow back / Starry fabric - or piece cut 20" x 20" square if using zipper instructions.
- 20" x 20" square of batting
- Coordinating thread
- Aleenes fabric fusion fabric glue
- 1" hexagon paper pieces
For my backing I used a colorful Starry print for the backing and added a zipper for the enclosure. You can find my zipper tutorial here!
I have this pillow available in my shop if you are interested in scooping this one up. I am currently working on some other fun hexie pillows for sale soon - let me know if there is a fabric line you would like to see!
If you would like to make one of your own you can grab the PDF pattern here or the printed version here.
Thanks for stopping by today - happy sewing!
