Hi friends,
Today I am sharing another Blooms quilt sample - the scrappy version! This version of the Blooms quilt was created using a selection of scraps and fat quarters I pulled from my personal stash to create the scrappiest of Blooms quilts.

Quilt Sizes:
- Baby 48" x 48"
- Throw 72" x 72"
- Bed 80" x 96"
- King 104" x 96"
Layout + Fabrics:
This layout uses scraps for each part of the quilt (background, flowers, leaves and center). I chose the use the fabric requirements - fabrics A - H - as a guide. For example fabric A I wanted a low volume white and so I chose a few fat quarters that were mostly white / cream but had some subtle prints. Same goes for fabrics B, C, D E - my fabric colors. I chose fabrics in hot pink, light peach, rust and bright orange. For my leaves - fabrics F + G, I chose a selection of light greens and a selection of dark greens. You want enough of a contrast to really see the split leaf look. For the centers - fabric H - a selection of yellows in similar shades.
Pulling from my stash bin was so much fun for this project and I absolutely love how the quilt turned out with all of the scrappy fun!
For piecing each block I just kind of grabbed from the pile of colors and just went with the flow - no real plan on what pieces would be next to each other.
Quilting:
Since this was a baby quilt I decided to practice some hand quilting with this one! I grabbed a selection of 12wt Aurifil floss I had on hand in different coordinating colors, an acrylic ruler to help me with spacing some quilting lines and a washable fabric pen to make some guide lines.
I measured 1" spacing for some of the lines on the quilting, some echo lines on the petals and the centers.
