Asterisks Quilt / Blue Terrazzo Version

Posted by Nicole Daksiewicz on

Hi friends!

Today I am sharing one of my favorite Asterisks samples - the Blue Terrazzo version. This quilt was created using the multicolor asterisks and the 1-color background, and is a large throw.

For this quilt I used one of my favorite new lines that came out this year - Rainbow Dust by Kate x Kasey for PBS fabrics. I found a bundle of the terrazzo prints at Cottoneer fabrics ( I think they are currently sold out? )and split the terrazzo prints up into cool blue, green, purple shades for this quilt - and the peach, yellow and caramel colors for a small throw that I will be sharing later in the week.

Here you can see how the large throw that measures 63” x 75” fits nicely on a full size bed.

Heres a closeup of the terrazzo prints. This would work as a great solid substitute or blender for any project. The slight flecks of color are so beautiful in person.

Quilting on this quilt was so fun using one of my favorite stitches on my Janome 6700p. I selected the wavy line and took the width of the stitch all the way to 9, which is the largest setting you can do. For the stitch length I believe I went with a 3.0, and then used my dual feet walking foot to quilt. To get a consistent spacing on my wavy lines I used my guide bar and measured 1” from the bottom of the waves on the previous line.

I also used a white cotton batting - just to make the white background pop a bit more.
