Hi friends!
Today I am sharing a Scrappy Version of the Asterisks quilt - with one of my dear friends new holiday line. I love using a white fabric for the Asterisks shapes with a solid or scrappy background for a fun snowflake look.
This large throw was created using the new line Holly Holidays by Christopher Thompson (the tattooed quilter) for Riley Blake Designs. I chose to use the red, black and pink prints, but there are some beautiful green and white background prints in the collection as well!
Fabrics used for the scrappy background: The scrappy background calls for 13 Fat Quarters, but you can always add more for a scrappier look.

For the quilting I chose to quilt this one my self on my Janome 6700p. I decided to do straight line quilting first crossing diagonally across the quilt through the corners of the quilt - then again going the opposite direction creating an x through each quilt square. Next I quilted a straight line through the middle of each x side to side and then top to bottom - creating an asterisks shape on each quilt block. This made for such an amazing texture and was pretty simple to do.
I love how well the large throw fits on top of this full size bed - especially when folded up across the bottom.
I love the size of the illustrations on this line. They are perfect for smaller piecing but still a great size to read what the text says - or see the cute little santa faces.
The blossom fabric is such a perfect blender for floral quilts but also winter quilts - it makes me think of tiny snowflakes falling. I used this same fabric in Denim for the small throw I shared earlier in the week.
Thanks for stopping by today to see my finished Asterisks quilt!
Happy sewing friends!
