Hi friends,
So excited to share my first finish of 2022 - my Snowflake quilt from the Snowalong!
This version features the Buffalo Check print layout that I shared in a blog post here. This one is a beautiful neutral colored quilt that is perfect for keeping out all winter long - well past the holidays!
I love how the white snowflake pops against the buffalo check background. This layout is definitely on my to-do list for future quilts as gifts, choosing colors for the background that compliments different home decor.

The background fabric is a beautiful black and white snowflake print fabric I found at my local Joann Store. I was able to find a similar print online that is still available
here. Since it's so cold out I am pretty much down to taking photos in my home at all times now. If you are in the same boat and need an amazing backdrop
stand - I love this one that I use to hang quilts - you can find more items that I love for photographing quilts and also other quilt supplies in my Amazon affiliates shop.
I wanted to hurry up and quilt this one because we are supposed to get a bit of snow here in Indianapolis tomorrow - it's getting so cold outside, so more quilts are always welcome!
For my quilting I used a white thread and did a simple x pattern across each square. Simple straight line quilting like this is nice because you can easily quilt from one corner to the other without having to really mark anything with a hera marker or tape as a guide. The texture it created fits nicely with the buffalo check pattern too!
We have a full size bed in our guest room and it fits nicely right on top with just a bit of overhang, so if you are wanting to maybe add a few more rows you can definitely make this a full size quilt - or keep it as is as a nice decorative look.
You can find more about the
Snowalong we just had here - there are links to all of the weeks progress with tips that might be helpful if you are looking to make a Snowflake quilt of your own!
I had so much fun taking photos of this one, so here are a few more.

I love this quilt. Have to add it to my “to make” list. Thanks.
I just love this version. Bought the pattern when it first came out. So glad I waited for this buffalo check version.
