Hi friends,
Today I am SO excited to share a finished quilt with you all, and news about an updated pattern!
Scallop quilt is the one quilt out of all of my patterns that I designed as a bed quilt. The negative space at the top and the scallop design cascading off the edge of the bed.
It's simple and stunning - my favorite combo!
A few changes we made to the original Scallop pattern
- New template, we changed the sizing up just a smidge, still nice large curves so a perfect "intro to sewing curves pattern" Larger curves make for easier sewing in my opinion.
- New instructions - changed up the directions a bit - trimming curves before joining them together.
- New sizing! We eliminated the twin size and now offer a baby, two different throw sizes, full and queen.
- We are finally printing this pattern! I always hope to print every PDF I offer - this one just kept getting pushed back so it is so exciting to be able to offer this as a beautiful full color printed pattern to you all!
Fabrics used:
The fabrics I used on this sample are from Alexia Abegg for Ruby Star Society called Starry. This line, at the time of posting should be available, if not shipping very soon.
The colors were so much fun to work with, and the smaller scale print worked out so well with the curves and strips needed to make the quilt.
Starry Fabrics // Large Throw 65.5" x 80"
A - Starry Goldenrod
C - Starry Papaya
D - Starry Warm Red
E - Starry Saddle
For my backing I used a cream flannel, I knew I wanted something super cozy and simple and the cream matches the stars on the fabric perfectly.
Quilting info:
I quilted this on my home machine - a Janome 6700p. I am a big fan of straight line stitching so I decided to use a nice cream thread, my dual feed walking foot with attachment bar, and set it at 1/2" spacing.
This gave me nice close lines, and amazing texture. I think the lines look great against the curves of the pattern, don't you think?
Pictures of the finished quilt:
Thanks for stopping by the blog today friends! The Scallop Quilt PDF pattern is available for purchase here, and tomorrow I will have the links up to purchase the pre-sale of the printed version (wholesale for shops included).
Happy Sewing!
Nicole

I love it Nicole! The colors you chose are great. Definitely makes me want to make this, but I have a King-sized bed. Could I just add a scallop to make it the right size?
Hi Nicole
That Scallop quilt looks fantastic. Where do you start quilting those 1/2 inch lines? In the middle of the quilt and sew down in different directions? That must be a million threads to sew in. Thank you for telling me.
