Hi friends!
Some of you may remember this stack of lovelies I shared on social media in January - seems like forever ago doesn’t it? Murmur is a new line by Valori Wells for Free Spirit Fabrics. It comes in a beautiful sunny palette and an indigo palette so there is a range of colors to suit anyone. You can see lots of beautiful hand printed details in this line that Valori is known for. She often shares her hand printing technique on Instagram - I highly recommend checking it out! The hummingbirds and sunflowers in this line were inspired from Valori’s own backyard. Every print that she creates is printed in black on white fabric then scanned to Illustrator for color palettes and repeats. Such an awesome process!
Well I had some time to think about what I wanted to make and I decided to make a Range Quilt and share it with you today!
This is one of my favorite patterns ever - it’s a super fast quilt to make and although the pattern comes in one size you can add or omit sections and make it using what fabrics you have on hand. For example, most sections on this quilt require 3/4 yards of fabric, I only had 1/2 yards to work with - and it totally worked!
So last night I was all ready to bind this quilt. Then….I thought wouldn’t this be fun if it had several lines of hand quilting along the lines of the Range pattern. I have some hand quilting weight thread (12wt) from Aurifil that I have been playing with recently and wanted to add some extra texture to the quilt. I have only hand quilted a couple of pillows so this was a task I wasn’t sure I could pull off the night before the post - but I made it! It was looking like it wasn’t going to get finished for a while because I could not for the life of me locate any type of thimble - so this was quilted thimble free and oh my goodness - my hands are super mad at me today! I think its worth it though - the texture is AMAZING!!
Thanks for stopping by today friends!
Happy sewing,
Nicole
