Hi friends,
Earlier this week I was going through my work in progress bin looking for something I could work on to get my week started. I ran across a stack of Peak quilt blocks that I set aside because I felt like they just were too busy, so much I actually almost threw them away a while ago. I decided that they deserved a chance and pieced them together into a quilt top - and absolutely love the end result!
If you love this quilt - you can purchase it here in my Handcrafted Quilt shop.
I tend to sew in solids or very few prints because while I love color - I love to keep it simple. This project became overwhelming to me back in Sept 2017 when I started on it because I had a hard time imagining the end result and it was quite busy with all of the prints and colors.
The end result while busy or "maximalist" in design, ended up being such a fun hodgepodge of fabrics and prints and colors - almost giving a Halloween Boho vibe if that makes sense!
I am so delighted with how it turned out!
The Peak quilt is one of my first quilt patterns and is such a great beginner pattern if you are new to quilting! It's Fat Quarter and Jelly roll friendly, and such a fun project for scraps.
Sizes available in the pattern:
- Baby 37" x 48"
- Kid 48" x 60
- Throw 60" x 72"
- Twin 60" x 84"
- Full 72" x 84"
- Queen 84" x 96"
Fabric Information:
It might be difficult to find this fabric these days - since the original bundle was released back in 2017, but if you google Spices Fusion and Art Gallery Fabrics you can still find some of these prints!
I paired a FQ bundle of this line, which is a combo of different Art Gallery designers work, with a black solid for the flying geese.
For the binding I used the same black solid to add a touch more of black to balance it all out.
For my backing I had a 100% cotton sheet from target that I had been holding onto for the perfect project! the yellow is a perfect match, and the stars and moons give a magical Halloween feel to the quilt.
Quilting Details:
I used a white thread since my backing was mainly white and I knew the cross hatch quilting design I did would really stand out if I used another color.
The quilting is a simple cross hatch, spaced at 1" straight lines going in both directions.
Finished Quilt Photos:
Thank you so much for checking out the blog today! If you would like to make your own Peak quilt - I have it available in PDF Pattern format here.
