Hi friends,
Today I am sharing a finished quilt pattern that I haven't featured in a while - the Peak quilt - Artisan Cotton Version. The Peak quilt is a fun beginner modern quilt pattern that works well with fat quarters and even jelly rolls! You can do an all over scrappy background like the pattern shows, or plan your blocks to feature the same fabric in a line like I did with this particular quilt.
- Baby 37" x 48"
- Kid 48" x 60"
- Throw 60" x 72"
- Twin 60" x 84"
- Full 72" x 84"
- Queen 84" x 96"
For this quilt I chose to make a throw size quilt - this is my favorite size for my home, looks great on the couch, and is the perfect size for snuggling under while watching a movie.
There is also a Peak coloring template link in all sizes included in the PDF pattern for you to plan out your project.
Fabric Information:
When I first received this bundle of Fantasy fabric by Sally Kelly for Windham fabrics I knew that it would pair up nicely with another Windham line - Artisan Cottons. I cut my fat quarters into the number of strips needed from the fat quarters and lined them up in color order for piecing.
Backing fabric is a black and white gingham cotton and I used the same white fabric for binding as the flying geese.
Quilting Information:
For quilting I chose to hand quilt this one using Aurifil 12 wt thread. I have a collection of rainbow colors and felt like this was the perfect opportunity to pull them out and assign them to the different columns on the quilt. Hand quilting in a straight line was quite enjoyable, I just used a herra marker to make a crease down the middle of each block piece. For the flying geese, I chose a white thread and stitched along the inside of each triangle about 1/4" in.
I finished off the quilt with a white binding to match the flying geese and my set of tags as the finishing touch!
Finished Quilt:
