Hi friends,
Long time no talk right? I am so happy to finally be back with a brand new pattern called Mosaic. The Mosaic quilt is a modern, geometric quilt pattern inspired by the rhythm and repetition of traditional mosaic tilework. Three blocks create a layered design of interlocking shapes, giving the quilt a beautiful sense of movement and dimension.

Mosaic includes instructions for multiple sizes and is yardage friendly (but I am just about done with a scrappy version using fat quarters so it's technically FQ friendly as well). This is the perfect design for bold solids or a fun mix of prints!

Mosaic Quilt Pattern info:
Mosaic is a beginner friendly pattern that consists of three easy to construct blocks that nest together. Since nesting the pieces is important - carefully following the pressing direction arrows throughout the pattern is key.

I have also found after sewing a few samples that using a glue tip with washable glue (or just a small dot of washable glue without the added tip) is the most enjoyable way of piecing the blocks together!
Once you have all of your strips cut, pieced together and pressed in the correct direction, instead of pinning the nested seams together you will just add a small dot of glue within 1/4" of the edge where you would normally place a pin. Heat set with an iron and you are good to go - no pins needed!
Included in the pattern are instructions for:
- Baby 36" x 36"
- Throw 68" x 68"
- Twin 68" x 100"
- Bed 96" x 100"
There is also a link to a set of coloring sheets for each size quilt and links on each cutting chart for a visual aide on how to cut your fabric for each size.
How to plan your quilt:

Choosing 5 different fabrics for you Mosaic quilt is just the beginning! I highly recommend using the coloring sheets included in the pattern or using Pre-Quilt to plan what order your fabric will go in and how much you will need once deciding that.
Pre-quilt is free to use and is a great source for planning all of your quilt projects. The link to my Mosaic quilt in all four sizes is here.

The Mosaic quilt can look totally different depending on what order you place your fabrics. For example - the cover quilt uses the following Speckled by Ruby Star Designs fabrics in this order.
- A - Icebox
- B - Storytime
- C - Succulent
- D - Teal
- E - Pine

Here are three Mosaic quilts using the exact same fabrics but in a different order! the look of the quilt changes dramatically.

Fabric Requirements:

I have been using Ruby Star Society's Speckled for most of my pattern quilts for the past couple of years because its similar enough to a solid to work well for sample quilts and the feel of the fabric is my favorite! I did see that they are releasing some solids soon - so I am very excited to try those out too!
Cover Quilt - Cool Speckled

- A - Icebox
- B - Storytime
- C - Succulent
- D - Teal
- E - Pine
Warm Speckled

- A - Festive
- B - Melon
- C - Warm Red
- D - Earth
- E - Cactus
There is a bit of a backlog on some of the speckled colors - but as soon as they are back in stock I will be carrying kits for both samples! I will also update in upcoming newsletters with shops that are carrying kits for these quilts as well. (If you make kits please let me know so I can share!)
I will have blog posts up for each quilt in the next few days - and more about the scrappy layout Mosaic I am making with the fat quarters and the line Merry Happy.
Mosaic Quilting info:

My friends over at Trace Creek Quilting did an AMAZING job on the quilting for my two sample quilts! First we have the Warm Speckled version featuring the panto Honey Honey.

For the cover quilt I wanted something with a similar vibe but more of a water feel - and I think the panto: Starry Water Drops was the perfect pick!
Mosaic Cross Stitch Pattern Info:

I am SUPER excited that I am now designing cross stitch patterns to coordinate with your favorite quilt patterns! I have quite a few almost finished up - but to celebrate the Mosaic release I thought it was fun to have this one ready to go!

I love a hand sewing project - actually any project that is away from my sewing machine and portable is the best! I love how relaxing something like this is to make - I usually keep mine in a basket in the living room and work on this instead of mindlessly looking at my phone when I am just hanging out.

Cross stitching is also one of the more affordable crafts I have found as well!
Aida cloth - size 14 is what I use with my patterns and can easily be found at most craft shops. I tend to buy a larger roll and then cut down to size to fit the hoop or plastic snap frame I am using.

DMC thread is also easy to find and available in many colors - its hard to narrow down which ones you want to buy!
My cross stitch patterns include the full layout in color, full layout in black and white and then larger color sections for you to use as a guide that are easier to read. The last page shows the layout for the larger sections.
- Pattern size: 68 x 68
- Fabric count: 14 Aida
- Finished size: 4.8" x 4.8"
- Total skeins: 5

The thread colors I used on this sample are from DMC:
- D606
- D352
- D353
- D3829
- D444
I will share more cross stitch patterns and more samples of the Mosaic quilt soon - thanks for stopping by!
Happy Sewing -
