Hi friends,
I always have grand plans in the middle of Fall, starting loads of projects for the holidays that I hope to decorate my home with. This year’s almost Christmas quilt was on a much larger scale - a bed sized Pivot quilt.
So far the largest Pivot I have sewn up has been a large throw and that actually takes quite a bit of time due to all of the curves you sew up. This is one of my favorite patterns to date, and I knew I wanted to start making more usable quilts for my home so a full / queen sized Pivot it was! There are so many throw size quilts around my home - they are quick, don’t take a ton of fabric and are perfect for testing a pattern out, and can you believe I only have a couple of quilts in my home that would actually (barely) fit on my son’s full sized bed?
I hope to be able to focus on size more than quantity in the new year - and make quilts that are large and cozy enough for us to enjoy on our beds at home.
This quilt is pretty large to take photos of inside but it works - love my quilt stand!

I was walking around the living room where I had this set up and thought this was quite the Christmas explosion! My Merry Gifts Quilt is getting lots of use on the couch this season!
This quilt started with a small holiday bundle of fabrics I found online - I then added some prints from my stash that had green, aqua, pink and red in them for a fun super scrappy look! These are my go-to holiday colors - I just noticed this afternoon they match my wrapping paper too!
I had to lay it out on my guest bed to make sure it fit well - I think it’s going to work out great! If I back it in a white minky fabric I think it will be cozy on the bed or on the couch.
For this size I went with the 8 x 8 layout - so it measures just under 80” square. Perfect for a full size bed or snug on a queen size. I had to move to my living room floor to lay it out and get the pivot block spin perfectly.
Thanks for stopping by today to check out my most recent make! You can find my Pivot pattern here in PDF or Printed version.
