Hi friends and welcome to week 5 of the Dot + Dashalong!
Can you believe we are almost done with all of our blocks after this week? Going group by group is so much fun slowly revealing what your finished quilt will look like.
This week we are sewing our next group of fabrics: 7 - 8 - 9
If you are going scrappy you will be sewing up the following blocks:
-
(3) 2.5” Blocks
-
(4) 4.5” Blocks
Blocks for Fabrics 7 - 8 - 9
If you are working with specific fabrics for fabrics labeled 7 - 8 - 9, we will be sewing those into a total of 7 blocks this week. Since I am working my way down the rainbow my colors this week are in the blue family.
Scrappy Blocks
For those who are using a Jelly Roll or scraps you are working on 7 total blocks as well:
-
(3) 2.5” Blocks
-
(4) 4.5” Blocks
Last week I shared a photo of my scrappy jelly roll blocks sewn up into finished blocks, this week I’m excited to share another jelly roll quilt - but this time a finished top!
This quilt top was created using a jelly roll of More Paper my Zen Chic for Moda fabrics. I paired it with one of my favorite fabrics - Black yarn dyed Essex linen by Robert Kaufman for a darker more textured background.
I love how the cooler neutral colors look and what a fun quilt this would be for any room!
Next Week
Next week we are making our final blocks! We will be working on our last fabric grouping: 10 - 11 - 12, so close to the finish line!
Week 6: September 20 Checklist
-
(4) 4.5” Blocks
-
(3) 10.5” Blocks
Thanks for sewing along with us this week and keep a look out for the next sew along we have coming up starting at the end of October…… the annual Snowflake sew along! This time we are doing a #snowalong and will be including the Asterisks quilt as an option for your snowflake quilt.
Happy Sewing!
