Hi friends,
It's Friday and I have another finish for you today, the Dot + Dash Quilt - Stitched Version.
This was actually the cover quilt and inspiration for my Dot + Dash printed pattern - you might have seen a close up shot of the quilt on the inside cover of the printed version. I have been a fan of Alison Glass and her amazing use of color for years and knew that this Handcrafted line of batiks would be beautiful as a rainbow version of this quilt.
Stitched is a line of the Handcrafted batiks that feature fun images in the batik style and little stitch marks. You can find the full line here in Alisons shop.
The Dot + Dash quilt is a fun and easy beginner quilt pattern. The layout also let's you show off a fabric collection or your favorite colorway. You can also make it a scrappy quilt using the "Make it scrappy" directions in the pattern.
Sizes available in the pattern are:
- Baby 38" x 50"
- Throw 62" x 74"
- Twin 74" x 86"
- Full / Queen 86" x 86"
- King 98" x 98"

Stitched Fabric Information
In Alison's words:
“Keeping with the focus of Handiwork and Sun Print 2020, it is also sewing themed and incorporates some of the same sewing bits: little scissors, cross and running stitches, scallops, plus the usual AG flora and fauna. Like Chroma, it is a full spectrum of color with many of the same bright colors that are in Sun Print 2020, and the lines coordinate beautifully together. Since Handcrafted fabric is a bit lighter than our regular quilting cotton and the designs have more flow, the fabrics work well for garments as well as quilting and bags.”
I have created something with every version of the Handcrafted line that Alison has released - the lightness of the fabric is perfect for quilting and creates a beautiful texture when used in quilting!
Quilting Details
For this quilt I decided to play off of the grid look of the pattern and create a grid with my quilting.
I used a white thread and set my guide bar on my walking foot to 1". Sewing 1" lines both horizontally and vertically.
