Today I am sharing all of the finished quilt photos from this last weeks Big Love Tutorial post. This particular Big Love quilt is the small throw featuring an upcoming fabric line from Libs Elliott called Workshop.
You can find the tutorial for the Big Love Quilt here - I completely reworked the pattern (2 new sizes and a PDF download).
Fabric:
Libs sent me a bundle of her newest line for Figo fabrics a couple of months ago and I have been waiting for the perfect project. Workshop comes in a rainbow of colors and has such a fun texture look to it - you would think that this was a linen but it's not - just a quilting cotton. Workshop is set to hit quilt shops in April 2022.
The colors of workshop I used are:
- Stripes in purple
- Rings in pink
- Zigzags in purple
- Stripes in pink
- Texture in black
- Rings in red
- Zigzags in red
For the backing I used one of my favorite "secret" fabrics. I am a big fan of 100% cotton sheets as backings - they are already a large cut and little to no piecing is involved to get the size you need. Another fun find is using a duvet cover - its essentially 2 large quilt backs. As long as you can find a brand that makes 100% cotton and is a good quality I say go for it. This particular black and white heart is from an older cover I found on H&M home.
Quilting:
For this quilt I used one of my favorite stitches on my Janome 6700p, the curvy stitch. I use a quidebar at just under 1" spacing, to keep my lines spaced perfectly and it's the same as stitching a straight line!
For my settings I like to bring the width the max size of around 9 and stitch length to around a 3 or so. This widens up the curvy lines and gives me a look like I sent this off to be quilted!
For my binding I used up the scraps I had from the fat quarters in the quilt and added up a couple of gray fat quarters from the line to break up all of the pink, red and purples.
This was a super quick project and the PERFECT beginner quilt pattern.
Finished Quilt shots:

Ooooh, Big Love landed in my in-box just in time for Valentines Day! Took a slight detour when a gal pal gifted me her Curiouser & Curiouser Tula stack of generous leftovers. Will post to my IG account once finished; allon0711. Thank you for a quick fix for big and bossy fabric.
