Hi friends!
Today I am so excited to share a quilt I have been working on for quite a while - Asterisks quilt / Birthday Version! As soon as I saw the Birthday line by Sarah Watts for Ruby Star Society in a preview for Moda I knew that it would be a perfect match for the Asterisks design I was working on at the time. Great news, the Asterisks quilt is now out and Birthday is shipping to stores this week (I hear that some shops already have it!)
The pattern is pretty versatile - it can be snowflakes falling, a mid century modern design, fireworks - or party confetti! Asterisks is a fun beginner pattern with a few different layout options.

About Birthday:
Birthday fabric collection designed by Sarah Watts for Ruby Star Society. When Sarah was a kid her grandma always made birthdays extra special with homemade cakes and confetti on the table. She wanted to capture that feeling and the joy of birthdays in a fabric collection. When she designed birthday she included a lot of smaller scale and abstract blender prints that would be easy to use in any project. Sarah was inspired by sprinkles, frosting, confetti, and gift wrap. She loves drawing panels and made two for Birthday. The Toys panel is covered with cute characters with some making a reappearance from an older collection; great for a quilt back or applique. The one-yard Milestone panel makes a great backdrop for a baby's first year. Birthday also includes three paint stroke canvases.
The fabrics I used on this Large Throw - Asterisks Quilt are:

Quilting Info:
I quilted this on my home machine - a Janome Memory Craft 6700P, using a white thread and a straight line stitch. I passed through the points of each square from corner to corner creating an X pattern.
I then passed through the middle of each X shape both directions - this created a fun "asterisks" shape inside each square. It took a bit of time but the texture and look turned out so nice.

Nicole, I think this is my favorite version so far, esp with -6 here this morning in central eastern Idaho, its so cheery and with the hope of spring!
Love this quilt pattern and it looks fabulous in this fabric completely portraying the joy that a birthday should bring. And I love the quilting. Simple and straight forward and doable on your own machine!!!! (That’s a money save!) and yet it’s perfect for this quilt pattern. So lovely. Congratulations.
Fabulous! I ordered right away! I can’t wait to get started!
