Today I have a new finish to share with you, another Hexie Pillow featuring a new fabric line called Bluish! My Hexie Pillow pattern teaches you the full Modern Hexies technique with a finished project - or you can take those instructions and make a project of your own!
Bluish is an upcoming line by Zen Chic for Moda Fabrics. It has a beautiful gray and blue palette that is very modern and calming. I could see this fabric line in so many home decor projects!
Materials needed:
Modern Handcraft Hexie Pillow PDF or Printed Pattern.
This pillow was created using a mini charm pack - Moda makes mini charm packs that are (42) 2.5" square pieces of fabric with every fabric from a particular line. These are my favorites for the Hexie Pillow pattern and a great way to use an entire line in a smaller project.

This pillow was created using this mini charm pack - Bluish by Zen Chic for Moda Fabrics.
For my pillow background and envelope backing I chose the light gray of the Bluish Coordinating fabrics.
I added a binding around the edges of the pillow and an edging on the outer envelope backing fold. This fabric is Grunge Basics by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics in Ash, this shade is a beautiful gray color with a slight bit of bluish gray touches throughout.
For application of the hexies I am a big fan of Aleene's fabric fusion.
For the hexie layout I decided to go from light to dark starting at the top. This is the first time I have done this particular plan and love how it turned out!
Finally for quilting I chose a light gray thread to add a bit of pop on the lighter background and blend in nicely with all of the hexie colors. I tend to choose thread that matches or coordinates well with the background fabric since that is where it is most visible.
