Hi friends!
Today on the blog I am sharing a recent finish using the new line Le Mini Golf by Lysa Flower for PBS fabrics.
Golf fabric you say? Yes - and it's absolutely adorable! I fell in love with the polka dot golf balls and flags and decided that an Asterisks quilt would be a fun challenge!
The colors of the fabric and the prints made for a perfect version of the more "mid-century" style of the Asterisks pattern. Read along to see what I came up with!
Fabrics used:
All of the fabrics used on this Asterisks quilt are from the Le Mini Golf line for PBS Fabrics. Links to each one below. Click here to read more about the inspiration!
Asterisks: Flags
Background: Polka Dot - Golf Balls
Binding: Hole in One
Backing: Wood Texture
Making the Quilt:
Making this one was a fun challenge - how do I space out the background so that the golf balls (polka dots) flow well?
Once I cut out my squares for my background fabric I placed them in stacks of similar colors so that I could spread out the colors a bit better. I would say that you kind of have to let go and let the polka dots do what they want after a certain point or you could really drive yourself crazy. I think the spacing turned out great and I am so happy with the finished look!
Quilting Info:
Did I tell you that I am officially a BERNINA ambassador now? The main reason I decided to make the switch in machine brands is that I am wanting to level up my quilting skills and you cannot beat the BERNINA Stitch Regulator or BSR as its commonly called.
For my first free motion quilt project I knew that a baby size quilt would make the perfect practice piece. This fun orange peel design was so fun to do - keep a lookout on social media because I will be sharing a video on how I did this soon!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! If you are interested on making your own Asterisks quilt here is a link to the ready to download PDF and the printed Pattern.
I am saving this quilt for an upcoming arrival - the baby's dad is a big golfer so I feel like this is going to be such a fun gift.
Happy sewing!
Nicole
