Announcing – The Timber Quilt Along

Announcing – The Timber Quilt Along
February 7, 2015 nicole

Hello friends, today is a day I have been waiting on….announcing the Timber Quilt Along!

Jamie Naughton (the woman who created this pattern with Alison for the AGD Sew pattern line) and I are hosting along with Alison Glass who will be checking in regularly and sharing everyone’s progress!  When Alison contacted me with her idea I was so excited, I have been wanting to make this quilt ever since I first saw it at Spring Quilt Market last year. I also cannot wait to see Jaime’s version….in Liberty fabrics, but more on that later.

Quilt Along Schedule:

The Timber pattern is broken up into sections – perfect for tackling week by week. We plan on spreading the work out over 9 weeks total starting with the first 2 blocks on March 2nd and ending on April 27th with link ups and prizes!

  • March 2nd – Section 1 (2 blocks)
  • March 9th – Section 2 (1 block)
  • March 16th – Section 2 (1 block)
  • March 23rd – Section 2 (1 block)
  • March 3oth – Section 3 (1 block)
  • April 6th – Section 3 (1 block)
  • April 13th – Section 3 (1 block)
  • April 20th – Piecing top together – also post your finished quilts this week for a chance to win!
  • April 27th – Prizes for linked up quilts

Starting on March 2nd gives you plenty of time to figure out your color scheme / fabric choices and plan out your quilt using the Timber pdf found here.

Fabrics & Pattern:

For our fabric choices Jaime and I are going in different directions – I think it will be more fun that way, don’t you?

Jaime is going with a lighter look using cream solids and a beautiful range of pink and red Liberty florals.

I am going to use a wide range of colors from Alison’s new additions to her Sunprint line paired with a black Chambray from Andover Fabrics.

Check with your regular retailers for the pattern and fabrics, or you can find the pattern in the AGD shop, both the PDF and print versions are available. Kits will also be available in the AGD shop to make the quilt as pictured on the cover in both the throw and queen size.

To help you with your fabric choices here is come useful information from the back of the quilt pattern with fabric amounts for each section. Feel free to modify this and add your own style with your fabrics!

Also as you are working on your project – from picking out fabrics to cutting out and starting your quilt we would love to see your work.  Be sure to tag your images #timberQAL on Instagram and Twitter so we can see your progress!

If you have already created a Timber Quilt – please tag images as well. It would be a great motivator for those of us just starting and it’s fun to see all of the different fabric combinations used with this pattern. We also have a fun image for those of you participating to place on the side bar of your blog or on any blog posts you make showing your progress!

Alison, Jaime and I are so excited to see all of the quilts created with this beautiful pattern and I for one cannot wait to start cutting into my fabrics. Keep up with us on Instagram @modernhandcraft // @Jamie_Naughton // @alisonglass  to see our progress during the QAL as well.

We will be announcing the awesome prizes for the finale of the Quilt Along soon, I promise if you are an Alison Glass fan you will be in for a treat!
